A. R. Penck: Graphik

This exhibition gathers 34 artists active today that deal with forms of traditional African art in their works. One of the main focal points of curator Philippe Dagen is the question of how these established forms can be charged with contemporary social and political layers of meaning and what these references tell viewers in today’s globalized world and visual habits.

Bertrand Lavier and A. R. Penck at Musée du Quai Branly, Paris, France

The first institutional show of A. R. Penck in the UK since 1984, this exhibition focuses on the recurrent motif of the stick man figure through a selection of works created between the 1970s and 1990. These years reflect a key period in the artist's career, as he travelled between East and West Germany, with stations in Britain and Ireland.
