‘A Roving Gaze' takes place exactly 20 years after Cabrita's first exhibition at Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art. It presents one single large-scale installation which has been specifically conceived for the architecture on site, focusing on the artist’s reflection on the role of museums.
Completed by photographs, objects, drawings and documents the installation provides insights into the work of the artist since 1999 while also highlighting autobiographic aspects. The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue containing exclusive material from the artist’s notebooks published for the first time.
