A selection of 50 works on paper present a journey through Raimund Girke's (1930 - 2002) creative periods from his beginnings until shortly before his death. The German painter was a decisive pioneer of analytical painting and one of the radical innovators of German painting after 1960.

On paper, Girke is highly sensitive. Evenly monochrome watercolours in grey tones, which completely impregnate the sheet, or line-like structures, some of which are also made in pasty oil paint transfer the painter’s meditative concentration to the viewer.
