Kimsooja was awarded the first edition of the Lucas Art Award. The prize is announced yearly by the Lucas van Leyden Fonds to support visual art projects in the public space of the city of Leiden. A prerequisite for these projects is that they contribute to the identity and role of Leiden as a city of knowledge, art and discovery.
