The Feather and the Elephant, 2 Jun 2017 – 10 Jun 2018

Jose Dávila at the Hamburger Kunsthalle

This is the second exhibition of the ‘Uncharted Territories’ format at the Kunsthalle, for which Jose Dávila conceived several new large-scale sculptures. Industrial materials are tied together with ratchet straps in seemingly unsteady constructions that are actually perfectly balanced, embodying the laws of physics such as gravity and resistance.

I do not have a lot of materials, but rather a set of materials that I am interested in: glass, concrete, steel beams and scraps, marble slabs and brocken marble pieces, rocks and boulders of all sorts.
