Jose Dávila at the Hamburger Kunsthalle, Hamburg, Germany
The Feather and the Elephant, 2 Jun 2017 – 10 Jun 2018
This is the second exhibition of the ‘Uncharted Territories’ format at the Kunsthalle, for which Jose Dávila conceived several new large-scale sculptures. Industrial materials are tied together with ratchet straps in seemingly unsteady constructions that are actually perfectly balanced, embodying the laws of physics such as gravity and resistance.
“I do not have a lot of materials, but rather a set of materials that I am interested in: glass, concrete, steel beams and scraps, marble slabs and brocken marble pieces, rocks and boulders of all sorts.”
