As one of the first artists invited to exhibit in the extraordinary new spaces of the Pinault Collection at the Bourse de Commerce in the very centre of Paris, Bertrand Lavier shows a selection of his most famous series of works like the ‘Walt Disney Productions’, ‘Objets soclés’ and ‘Objets peints’.

Hinting at Marcel Duchamp, the ‘Objets soclés’ stage objects taken from everyday life as well as art history. Assembling them in unusual ways, Lavier questions their value and function. A wardrobe and a fire extinguisher covered in thick paint are examples of Lavier’s ‘Objets peints’ series. Calling to mind the touches on a Van Gogh canvas these works blur the borders between sculpture and painting.

All 24 works are showcased in the characteristic display cases of the Bourse de la Commerce, which were built for the 1889 World Exposition, questioning traditional viewing habits over and over again.
