We are delighted to announce that Sandra Vásquez de la Horra has been awarded the Hans Theo Richter Prize 2021 by the Sächsische Akademie der Künste and the Hildegard and Hans Theo Richter Foundation, Dresden.
In awarding the prize, the jury acknowledges the impulses that the Chilean artist has given to the renewal of drawing: With her work, she creates a universe that expands the boundaries of the medium.
We are proud to be accompanying Sandra on her way since her first exhibition with the gallery in Palma in 2005. Heartfelt congratulations!
The election committee consists of members of the Fine Arts Class of the Saxon Academy of Arts and the board members of the Hildegard and Hans Theo Richter Foundation as well as the director of the Kupferstich-Kabinett of the Kunstsammlungen Dresden. The prize is awarded every two years; past award winners have been Marlene Dumas, Claus Weidensdorfer and Hanns Schimansky, amongst others.
