Bernd Koberling

Berlin-born painter Bernd Koberling (b. 1938) was a key figure of the German Neo-Expressionist movement known as the Neue Wilde during the 1980s. In this context, his works were already shown in legendary exhibitions such as ‘A New Spirit in Painting’ at the Royal Academy of Arts in London (1981) and ‘Zeitgeist’ in the Martin-Gropius-Bau in then-West Berlin (1982). But his motifs, deeply influenced by his fascination with nature, quickly set him apart from the group.
